Faculty of Dentistry at Unimus is Extending Network by Establishing Cooperation with 4 Malaysian Universities

Malaysia 2018 | Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) is making an attempt to extend the network by establishing new partnerships with several big Malaysian universities. Among those are University of Malaya, Lincoln University College, International Medical University, and University Malaysia| Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) is making an attempt to extend the network by establishing partnerships with several big Malaysian universities. The partnerships have been legalized by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Memorandums of Agreement (MoA) with them. In the signing ceremony, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang was represented by drg. Budiono, M.Pd (dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Unimus) and M.Yusuf, Ph.D. (director of International Relations Office at Unimus).

The new partnership is connected to the establihsment of the fast track program Master Dental Science. The meeting with the four universities was held lately in this March in Malaysia, initiated by Unimus’ Faculty of Dentistry in collaboration with the International Relations Office to support the implementation of the Three Obligations in terms of Education and Community Service.“Faculty of Dentistry at Unimus has a vision of having international insight, so that it is obligatory for its students to take some short programs overseas in order to have international experiences. Thus, this cooperation is a part of the applied international mobility. At the University of Malaya, Mr. Budiono and Yusuf discussed about meeting for preparation of Elective Block Program in July 2018.

On the occasion, the University of Malaya was represented by Dato’ Professor Dr. Zainal Ariff Abdul Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the university. Meanwhile, in the MoU signing ceremony at Lincoln University College, the Malaysia’s representative was Dato’ (AMB) Mohd Yusoff Abu Bakar, as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs & Internalization. As for the meeting for developing the program of Islamic Dentistry and the letter of intent, the University Sciences Islam Malaysia was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haslinda Ramli, the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. Lastly, the International Medical University, the Malaysian side was represented by Prof. Allan Pau as dean of the School of Dentistry. According to Mr. Yusuf, the new cooperation was so needed for the sake of Unimus’ extended international network so that the educational quality at Unimus could be improved. “Need of education in this era really needs good cooperation with already developed higher education institutions. Hence, the MoUs and MoAs can become an important point, showing that has taken real steps for internationalization,” he closed.
