Our History

From PTKMS to a Global-Driven University

UNIMUS has a long history of development, beginning as the Muhammadiyah College of Health Sciences Semarang (PTKMS) and growing into Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, a leading university with a strong commitment to education, research, and community service.
1996The Beginning

The establishment of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang was initiated by the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah Central Java, followed by the formation of the founding committee in 1997.

4 August 1999UNIMUS Was Established

UNIMUS officially obtained its operational license from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia through Decree No. 139/D/O/1999.

2004Growing Through Integration

Muhammadiyah higher education academies in Semarang—including the Academy of Nursing, Health Analysis, Nutrition, and Statistics—were integrated into UNIMUS.

2025A New Milestone

At its 26th anniversary, UNIMUS achieved Institutional Accreditation “Unggul” from BAN-PT, marking an important milestone in its continued development.
