COOPERATION OF FACULTY OF MEDICINE UNIMUS WITH UNISBA AND EUROPEAN FORUM OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH (EFOH)

IMG-20150603-WA0001Bandung, 2/6/2015-Cooperation of Faculty of Medicine (FK) of University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) and Bandung Islamic University (UNISBA) that was supported by Development Occupational Health (DOH), European Forum Occupational Health (EFOH) which is the central OHS development institute in the European Union, was intended to strengthen Curriculum and Learning of Work Health and Safety (K3) for medical students. It is later expected to be the foundation of both institutions as the service centre of K3 in each province

It was done as it based on an opportunity when demographic factor in 2020 Indonesian population will be significantly consisting of productive people. At the same time, the problem and challenge in work health and safety (K3) aspect will also be increasing. However, the numbers and capacity of health workforce including doctor has not fulfilled the need of work health service in Indonesia. Up to now, it is only Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia that becomes the only Medical Faculty which has formal educational programme for postgraduate degree and specialization on occupational medical study.

IMG-20150603-WA0003To develop Unimus as the work health and safety (K3) training centre in Central Java, FK of Unimus has initiated some strategic cooperations both on national and international scale in OHS, curriculum reinforcement, and human resource (SDM) improvement particularly lecturer. This event was held at FK of Unisba led by Dean of FK Unisba, Prof. Dr. Ieva B. Akbar, dr.AIF. The Dean was accompanied by Executive Secretary, drg. Siska Nia I. and dr. Yudi Feriandi. Meanwhile, representative from Unimus was dr. Merry Tiyas Anggraini, M.Kes., dr. Yanuarita Tursinawati, M.Si., M.Ed. (FK of Unimus), and Muhammad Yusuf, Ph.D. (Office of International and Cooperation Affairs of Unimus). This event was also attended by delegation from EFOH; they were Dr. Lailana Purvis and Dr. Geert Koster. Several plans that had been agreed in this cooperation such as visit to the Netherlands by early September 2015, synergy with policy maker of K3, cooperation with Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia, learning programme development, curriculum development, human resource (SDM) particularly lecturer development, student development, and competitive Occupational Health Education model development.
