International Affair and Cooperation of the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) and the Faculty of Nursing strengthens international cooperation with Calgary University of Qatar on Wednesday (8/10). This collaboration mainly focuses on curriculum reinforcement, academic discussion, open-minded management, and general lecture at both universities. Rector Prof. Dr. H. Djamaluddin Darwis, M.A. and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Calgary University Qatar Kim Chritcley, PhD. signed the agreement related to this cooperation yesterday.
This occasion is attended by Vice Rector I Dr. Ir. Nurrahman, M.Si., Vice Rector II Dr. Hj. Sri Redjeki, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., Vice Rector III Dr. R. Djoko Setyo Hartono, S.E., M.M., MKN., Dean of Fikkes H. Edy Soesanto, S.Kep., M.Kep., and Dean of FK Hj. Dr. Siti Moetmainnah S, Sp.OG, Sp. Mat (K).
This cooperation can also strengthen institution quality. Support given by two universities will influence education quality in both institutions,said the Rector. He says that the learning system in Qatar has been well advanced. It is also due to proper facilities owned by the campus in an oil producing country. Considering this Unimus tries to learn from Calgary University. Qatar is known as one of developed countries in the world. This development enables massive modernization in many aspects including medicine and nursing. There will be many things to learn as regards the transfer of technology and science from the partnership with Calgary University.
In the near future, this cooperation will be followed with the visiting programme of senior lecturers and experts. They who are experts in each subject can be easily visiting Indonesia to deliver lectures, and vice versa, Unimus can also give transfer of science by visiting Qatar. Vice Rector II Dr. Hj. Sri Redjeki, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., says that this cooperation marks the harmonious relationship between Indonesia and Qatar as Muslim majority countries. Indonesia and Qatar have very close diplomatic relations. This relationship is getting closer with academic activity between Unimus and Calgary University.
After the agreement is signed, Kim Chritcly, PhD. gives expert lecture to students of Nursing of Unimus with a topic How to Apply Evidence-Based Nursing Research in Family and Community Nursing. She also becomes the keynote speaker on Nursing workshop with a topic How to Develop Curriculum for Diploma and Bachelor Nursing Education“ for Nursing department lecturers of Unimus on the 2nd day (9/10) of her visit at University of Muhammadiyah Semarang.
